Last morning of 2003

The morning wakes me up again.. just like another morning in my life...
however it feels different.... it alarms me about the special day...
the last day of 2003.... 31th of December 2003!

So, this is my last morning of 2003. The last sunrise in 2003... yet I cannot see sunrise in this part of the world.... yet sky looks bright enough to tell that sun is hidden behind..

My last morning, what I'm gonna do this morning?
No particular thing... but thank to God that I survive until this morning... for the morning God still gives to me...and for ability to appreciate my last-morningness of this year.....

The last day of 2003

Now it's 1:02 am of December 31... ooh, the last day of the year of 2003! One year just goes too fast. What have I achieved in one year? Can say 'many' or 'not'.. it depends..

But I can proudly say that this year I have learned a lot... really a lot about life's experience... about the world... about human..... about God... and especially about how to love and to be loved in return......

I'll go to bed.... sleeping on the last night of the year. Hopefull tonight will be filled with sweet dreams..... The sweetest dreams of 2003.

Microsoft Office vs. OpenOffice

While I had been supporting "Open Source Movement" since long time ago, should admit that I did not really use all of those open source programs until recently (well, I got rid from Internet Explorer and Outlook Express years ago, though!). Well, mainly because I thought switching to new programs would take time for me to re-learn also because in Indonesia I could get any software freely..:-) .

But, then I switched to Mac, so I also changed my entire compu-lifestyle. I started using Mozilla Thunderbird for my emailer and Mozilla Firebird for my browser, for example. I also started using OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Office, especially since I always got this annoying message "This installation of Microsoft Office X exceeds the number of installations permitted by the license agreement. Merlyna Lim is already using this installation of Microsoft Office X. The program will now quit" when I was on Office and online at the same time... and of course my Internet connection is 24 hours/day [except sleeping time, and sometimes even online while sleeping!]. Of course in Indonesia I never had that problem, I wasn't connected to the Net that much.

It made me upset.... Of course, I knew how to deal with that problem. I just blocked Microsoft from watching me! But, that bothered me a lot so I swith to OpenOffice. Yet, unfortunately, for Mac users, OpenOffice is still pretty much a preview technology and doesn't use Mac Aqua look. It works on X11, which is Linux based, so the look is quite... uhm... plain. NeoOffice is perhaps better, it doesn't need X11, however it is also still a very preview of preview technology. But for Windows users, OpenOffice is already pretty handy... and you don't have to deal with license problem at all.... it's a FREE SOFTWARE!

So, why should think more? Let's go OPEN SOURCE!

Zero degree

It is 32 Fahrenheit degree or ZERO Celcius degree outside...[or at least that's what the Yahoo weather said about Twente regio as Enschede is not there!]. It feels sooooo cold, brrr... but well, I get used to it. Beside, in my apartment I am warm enough with heater and blanket!

For those who use to live in tropical areas, like me, it's hard to imagine living in cold place like this. But I start to like it a bit. I don't like when it is cold and rainy, but I don't mind 'a bit cold' weather. Something like 15 Celcius degree is fine. I start to dislike 'very hot' weather like Jakarta.... 30 C... ugh, too hot.

Anyway... now I know that human is a strong creature, just survived any temperature! From -40 C to +40C! Amazing, isn't it?

The future computer

I just read that the future computer, which will beat any Siliconian products, will be based on DNA! The speed of chip following DNA logic is faster than Intel computer chip!

So here again... a part of human is proven more powerful than human-created elements!

Cannot wait for DNA based computers to be ON SALE...hehe.

Merry un-Christmas Day!

I woke up this morning and found out that my Christmas day was over! Can Christmas stay one more day? Can it stay one more week? Ah, silly thought, isn't it?

My Christmas this time was quite different. It was far away from my usual Christmas activities - services, performances, dinners, etc. It was a very simple lovely day in quietude. It was such a precious day away from the wordly pressures where I could find my center, impeccability under the eyes of God. With so much love and contentment about being so loved. Love and peace... filled my Christmas day.

With such a simple profound Christmas day, I can just continue to have it today....
Yes, I can have a merry little un-Christmas day!

Merry un-Christmas, all!

I'll be home for Christmas.......

I'm dreaming tonight
Of a place i love
Even more than i usually do
And although i know
It's a long road back
I promise you

I'll be home for christmas
You can count on me
Please, have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree

Christmas eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for christmas
If only in my dreams

..... yes, I am home for Christmas.... yet only in my dreams....

Christmas day is just started....
In the quietness and silence..
Alone.... and physically far away from the loved ones...
I feel so loved ..
Dearly so close to my beloved ones...

The magical Christmas day...
fills me with loving wishes and beautiful thoughts..
fills me with so much love...
binds me tight to all people I love... and those who love me..

Merry Christmas everybody!
